Beyond A Spectrum: Code of Ethics
Beyond A Spectrum, Inc. (BAS) is committed to operating with a culture of compliance and ethics. All representatives of BAS, including the Board of Directors, leadership, volunteers, interns, and employees will agree to abide by the following Code of Ethical Conduct and to report violations and concerns to the Compliance Officer immediately.
Ethical Code of Conduct:
- BAS representatives agree to the reporting of hours worked only for services which were rendered.
- Invoicing clients or payers on behalf of clients is accurate to the services rendered and in accordance with the scope of work and other agreements.
- Marketing, fundraising and other business operations are compliant with legislation and are conducted accurately, without misrepresentation, and with respect of the privacy of clients.
- Services are provided within the scope of practice of the credentialed representatives.
- Services are delivered free from abuse, neglect, retaliation, and intimidation.
- Services are efficacious, appropriate, and consistent with contractual obligations.
- BAS is committed to the judicious use of resources to promote sustainability and reduce and eliminate waste.
- Confidentiality and data protection meets or exceeds The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability ACT (HIPAA), The HITECH Act, and the Affordable Care Act.
- Operations are conducted in conformance with Accreditation Standards.
- BAS representatives follow the law in all aspects of work and operations.
- BAS representatives facilitate a culture of transparency and duty to report.
- BAS is an inclusive company that welcomes and values diversity in all capacities. Consequently, BAS is committed to human resource activities that facilitate ethics, compliance and diversity.
- Our work and operational environment is free of harassment or exclusionary behavior and practices.
- BAS supports a weapons free environment for the safety of all representatives and clients.
- BAS maintains a Compliance Program that includes training for all representatives on ethics and compliance, an annual compliance risk analysis and audit, and the appointment of a Compliance Officer.
- BAS supports a drug and alcohol free environment to facilitate safety and the delivery of quality services. No illicit substances will be allowed on the premises. Legal medications including over the counter and herbal, are to be secured on the person or in a locked location, if visitors, clients, representatives must have them for health reasons. For non-essential medications, BAS requests that they not be brought on the premises.
- BAS’s reputation depends upon the actions and integrity of our representatives, therefore, representatives will refrain from actions that may cause harm to the reputation of BAS including:
- Responding to media on behalf of BAS or about BAS or any of our work without the expressed permission of the Board of Directors or designee.
- Dual relationships that may cause or be perceived to cause a conflict of interest.
- Misrepresentation of the work, experience, capabilities, credentials of representatives.
- Misappropriation of funds.
- Theft of intellectual property.
- Not providing credit for work performed.
- Bribery, forgery or other illegal activities.
- Acceptance of gifts as a BAS representative with the exception of homemade expressions of appreciation or official donations made to BAS.
- BAS encourages representatives to be aware and vigilant with social media activities so as to not post on behalf of BAS without permission or to engage in activities, discussions online or post photos that would damage the reputation of BAS.
- Personal fundraising by representatives is not allowable during official business hours or as a BAS representative in accordance with the requirement to avoid conflicts of interests and dual relationships.
- Gratuities are not accepted or provided by BAS.
- BAS representatives will refrain from witnessing of documents for each other or for clients to avoid dual relationships and conflicts of interests.
